Fellowships for Mexican students pursuing doctoral studies at UT System Institutions

The Secihti-ConTex Fellowship provides support for up to five years. In order to be awarded, students must:

• Register with ConTex

• Apply and be admitted to a Ph.D. program at one of the UT Institutions

• Apply for and obtain a Secihti scholarship through the Study Abroad Fellowship Calls (to be eligible to apply, students must have already been admitted to a Ph.D. program)

Applicants must have Mexican citizenship and be either incoming students or in the first or second year of their Ph.D. program.

Secihti 2026 call for graduate study abroad scholarships is currently open

 Scholarships for graduate studies abroad in science and humanities

Application period: March 23 to May 22, 2026

Announcement of results: August 3, 2026

This opportunity is open to students who will begin doctoral studies in the fall of 2026 or are currently in the first or second year of their program.

The scholarship provides up to five years of support for Mexican students interested in pursuing doctoral studies at any of the 13 UT System institutions.

• Support for tuition

• Monthly living expenses

• Support for health insurance/expenditures

We encourage candidates to carefully review the call and follow ALL instructions to submit their application. It is important to take into consideration the areas of study covered by the call.

Applicants must request a Type 1 Scholarship to receive support for tuition in addition to monthly living expenses and support for health insurance.

Students who reside in the State of Mexico (Estado de México) can apply to the Secihti-COMECYT scholarship.
